Pros

  • More stable than previous versions
  • Responsive
  • Light
  • Flexible

Cons

  • Relatively firm
  • Butterfly lacing needed in most cases

Editors Opinion

  • The Mizuno Wave Rider 17 is the logical step forward for the series.  It has been too unstable for a while now, and has also been caught up by other brands in the weight department.  Now, it is more stable and lighter by far, so is once again the go to, lightweight neutral shoe.
  • 9/10
  • RRP £110

The Mizuno Wave Rider 17 is the next logical step to this hugely popular silo.  It combines both cushioning and responsiveness to give an ultra smooth gait, and is much more stable than previous versions.

Key Technologies:

  • U4ic midsole for superb, lightweight cushioning
  • Evolved Smooth Ride technology means a smooth lay down, and more stable ride
  • Welded Overlays for minimal stitching

The updates in this shoe are spot on.  The stability has been vastly improved, and the fit is much better than previous versions.  They also look great, and thanks to the new midsole, are once agaain the lightweight shoe for neutral runners.  I give it a 9 out of 10
