  • Softer than before

Cons

  • Wide heel counter
  • Chunky

Editors Opinion

  • The New Balance 860v4 offers more support and cushioning than ever before.  However the heel unit, and midsole in general feels relatively chunky.  It is a comfortable shoe, and is wider than most, so is a good fit for a lot of people, but similarly as a wide heel unit, so must it correctly
  • 8.5/10
  • RRP £95

The New Balance 860v4 has been redesigned, and reconsidered.  It has had anoticeable change in midole composition to make it softer and more supportive than before, by making it much clser to a full ground contact.  However, it is fairly chunky, and has relatively wide heels.

Key Technologies:

  • Absorb midsole foam offers cushioning and durability
  • N2 in the heel and forefoot offers responsive cushioning in key areas
  • Fantom Fit upper gives an almost seamless feel, and uses very few stitches for added comfort
  • Dual Density midpost for support

The New Balance 860v4 fils a niche, and offers a little spport for slight over-pronators, however seems to focus on those who are heavier or have wider feet.  The heel unit is wide, and a lot of people (myself included) will feel lost in it.  The forefoot though has plenty of space, without feeling too big.  For those who fit the job description, these will be great.  We give it an 8 out of 10.
